Desktop computer PC does not have inbuilt Bluetooth support. Here I will say how to connect Bluetooth speaker with desktop computer PC. There are 2 methods to do this. One method is to connect via the USB Bluetooth adapter. The second method is without using any extra Bluetooth hardware.
Desktop PC doesn’t have inbuilt Bluetooth
Many users prefer to use a desktop PC instead of a laptop. The main reason behind this is its customizability. In your desktop you can customise with your own hardware preferences like hard disk, motherboard, monitor, graphics card, processor etc. but in the desktop motherboards by default, there is no Bluetooth chip. That’s why we cannot connect any Bluetooth speaker headsets etc.
Two Methods to connect Bluetooth Speaker with Desktop PC
There are two methods to connect Bluetooth speaker with desktop PC. First is using hardware. And the second one is using some software. If you do not want to buy any hardware then follow the second step. But if you can afford to buy one USB Bluetooth adapter then it is recommended to follow the first method to connect Bluetooth Speaker with Desktop PC.
Connect Bluetooth Speaker with Desktop using USB Bluetooth Adaptor
First of all, you have to buy one USB Bluetooth Trans receiver. Click below to buy now.
This is a stereo Bluetooth adaptor. This Bluetooth trans receiver has two modes transmit & receive. When in receiving mode, it plays audio from any devices like mobile, laptop etc. This mode is very useful to convert any speaker into a wireless speaker. Blue LED light is blinked continuously when the device is in this mode. When the device in transmission mode, it blinks Red LED light top of it. This mode helps us to Connect Bluetooth Speaker with Desktop PC easily.
Change Bluetooth mode from Receiver to Transmitter
First of all, we have to change the Bluetooth adaptor device mode. There is no software, driver for this device. This is a Plug & play device for PC & without any OS requirement. There are also no buttons on this device. Only we have to connect it to the desktop USB port. Now the question is how we can change its mode from receiver to transmitter to Connect Bluetooth Speaker with Desktop using USB Bluetooth Adaptor.
We have to just quickly insert & eject twice within 5 seconds to change its mode. So, if it is in receiving mode & blue light blinking, then insert & eject 2 times & it will start blinking red light. That’s it, you have successfully changed the mode to the transmitter in the USB Stereo Bluetooth adaptor.
Connect Bluetooth Speaker with USB Bluetooth Adaptor
Finally, we had to connect our Bluetooth Speaker with USB Bluetooth adapter. To do this we have the power on Bluetooth speaker and start searching device. As soon as it finds the Bluetooth adapter automatically connects and paired with your device. Now everything is done and start playing any music files in your media player and it should play music from your Bluetooth Speaker. In this way, you have successfully connected Bluetooth Speaker with desktop PC.
Connect Bluetooth Speaker with Desktop without using Bluetooth adaptor
Now this is the most interesting part. In the previous method we have to buy a extra USB adapter device. If you cannot afford to buy any hardware then this method will be very helpful for you. Here we are going to use some software to route sounds of our desktop via Wi-Fi network.
Connect Desktop to a WIFI Network
If you have already a Wi-Fi router, then you can connect it to your desktop with Ethernet LAN or via Wi-Fi. Next, we have to connect mobile with that Wi-Fi network. Both your desktop and mobile have to be connected to the same network.
If you do not have any router you can easily use a mobile hotspot to connect desktop PC with the mobile.
Install Sound Wire Server
We have to download a free software named Sound Wire Server. Click the download link button below to download desktop server setup file from the official website.
This software is available for multiple operating systems like Windows 10, Windows 7, Linux, Ubuntu, raspberry pi etc. you just download the setup file according to your OS.
Download Sound Wire Android App
We also have to download Sound Wire android App in our mobile. Click the download link below to download full version android App APK of Sound wire. Then install the APK in your mobile.
Start Sound Wire Server in Linux OS
To start the Sound wire server, we have to extract the downloaded file. Then we have to run the Sound wire server file.
We have to install another free software pulse volume control from the software package store in order to control the volume level of our Bluetooth speaker.
Start Sound Wire Server in Windows 10
Starting Sound wire in Windows operating system is very easy. Just double-click on the desktop icon then select Sound source like here Realtek soundcard.
Connect Sound Wire Server with Mobile
In order to connect our android mobile with the desktop we have to put the IP address showing in the Sound wire server in computer screen.
Connect Bluetooth Speaker with Mobile
Now we have to connect our Bluetooth Speaker with android mobile. First of all, we have to change mode to the Bluetooth searching mode in the Speaker. Next open Bluetooth in our mobile and add a new device which is showing like a Bluetooth Speaker. Now all our setup is done.
Play Music from Desktop Computer
Finally, we are ready to play music and hear it from our Bluetooth Speaker. Just open any music file and play it via any media player like VLC media player. We are now finally succeeded to Connect Bluetooth Speaker with Desktop PC without using Bluetooth adaptor.
Reduce Latency of Audio in Sound Wire
You might see that there is audio latency between your Bluetooth Speaker & desktop output. This is because of our network latency or ping time. Basically, here we are forwarding 3.5 MM audio out port via Wi-Fi network. And at last, it is being transferred from mobile to Bluetooth speaker wire Bluetooth connection.
But you can reduce the latency of audio output using this simple trick. Go to the mobile app setting and change the buffer size. By default, it is set at 128 kb. You can change it to 64 kb. But remember if you reduce this too much, you will notice a crack in the Sound. So, it is recommended do not change this unless and until you are not satisfied with the latency.
